There are are a large number of abilities in ToL. Abilities are split up into 3 types:

  • Passives
  • Day Abilities
  • Night Abilities

Day abilities cannot be used on Day 1, unless stated otherwise.

You can only use one active ability per day or night round. For example, the King cannot use the Royal Finger to vote a player up, and then use Decide Fate on the same day.

Poisoned Wine Day 1 Secretly poison the King. Unless healed, the King will die at the end of the night. If the King is aligned with the Blue Dragon, you will take your life the following night and can no longer use your abilities.
  • Cannot be used until Day 4.
Serve Wine.png
Serve Wine Night Occupy a player tonight with wine. They will not be able to use abilities tonight. You cannot target the same player 2 nights in a row.
Concentrated Wine.png
Concentrated Wine Night 2 Throw a party, occupying everyone that targets you.


The Butler's Ability Feedback:

Poisoned Wine

On use: "You poisoned the King."

Serve Wine

On success: "You occupied [Target]."

On failure: "You were unable to occupy [Target]. They are occupy immune."

Concentrated Wine

Distort Reality Night Transfer a death delayed with Time Warp to another player.


  • This does not count as an attack.
  • Cannot choose the King as the second target


The Chronomancer's Ability Feedback:

Pocket Dimension

On use: "If you die tonight, your death will be delayed for two nights."

On cancel: "Your dimensional pocket disperses."

Time Warp

On success: "You delayed [Target]'s death for two nights."

On non-death success: "[Target] did not die last night."

On failure: "You could not delay [Target]'s death."

Distort Reality

Court Wizard - Tornado.png
Tornado Night 3 Target 2 players. Redirect all players targeting either of your targets to the other. You will be immune to any occupation or redirection that was swapped to yourself.
  • Target A becomes target B / or the other way.
  • Redirection conflicts may fail.
  • Cannot target the King.


The Court Wizard's Ability Feedback:

Clear Mind

On use: "You plan to shield your target's mind tonight when Intensify is used."

On cancel: "Your mind fogs, abandoning your plan."

Icy Veins

On use: "You plan to magically protect your target tonight when Intensify is used."

On cancel: "The frost dissipates, abandoning your plan."

Intensify

On use: You allowed [Target] to bypass both occupation and redirection tonight.

If Clear Mind was used: Additionally, Clear Mind rendered them convert immune tonight.

If Icy Veins was used: Additionally, Icy Veins rendered them death immune tonight.

If your target was occupied/redirected and intensified (to target): Your action was instead intensified by a Court Wizard!

Tornado

On use: "You swapped [Target 1] with [Target 2]."

Bear Companion Night 3 Your bear will kill visitors attempting to attack you tonight. Bypasses death immune. You will be immune to death and conversion tonight.


The Hunter's Ability Feedback:

Wolf Companion

On use: "You made [Target] start bleeding."

Hunter's Mark

On use: "[Target 1] targeted [Target 2] last night, so you occupied and attacked [Target 1]."

If your target was immune to occupation: [Target 1] targeted [Target 2] last night, so you attacked [Target 1].

If your target was immune to death: Coming soon

On fail: "[Target 1] did not target [Target 2] last night."

Bear Companion

On use if attacked: "Your bear killed players attacking you last night."

On use if not attacked: "Your bear did not detect any attackers."

The Knight's Abilities:

Cold Steel Night Attack target player. If you killed an ally, you will also take your own life (Unhealable). Not usable until Night 3.
  • Redirect cancels ability.


The Knight's Ability Feedback:

Defend

On use if target isn't attacked: "You protected [Target]."

On use if target is attacked (first blocked attacker): You killed someone while guarding [Target] last night. You have lost your armor passive.

On use if target is attacked (second blocked attacker): "You died killing someone that attacked [Target] last night."

Cold Steel

On use: "You attacked [Target] last night."

On use if target was immune: "[Target] was immune to your attack."

On use if target was Blue Dragon: "You took your own life, when you discovered [Target] was Blue Dragon."

The Maid's Abilities:

Matchmake

Not a match: "[Previous Target] and [Target] are incompatible."

If, for whatever reason, you matchmake the same target twice in a row: You cannot matchmake a player with themselves.

Nosy Servants

On criteria success: "[Target 1] visited [Target 2] on the night they died!"

On fail: "[Target 1] did NOT visit [Target 2]."

The Physician's Ability Feedback:

Exhume

On use: "You sent your assistant to exhume [Target]. You will receive the results tonight."

At night: "[Target] was killed by [Class(es)]." or "[Target] committed suicide."

Inoculate

On use: "You made [Target] immune to bleeding."

Heal

On use when your target is attacked (this shows regardless of bleeding): "You healed [Target] last night."

On use when your target is bleeding but not attacked: [Target] was bleeding, so you healed them.

On use when your target is both bleeding and attacked: [Target] was also bleeding, so you healed them.

On use when your target cis attacked by an attack that bypasses healing: "You could not heal [Target]."

Self-Care

On use when you are attacked: "You healed yourself last night."
